Author's Foreward:
The Right of Kings was born from a single scene: Desslok and Masterson escaping the palace on Gamilon--the last scene in The Guardiana.
From that single image, an epic grew. Some elements came on their own, or were inspired by songs I love. Others rose from the original Star Blazers/Space Battleship Yamato saga, and still more were inspired by the 2199 remake, which had just come on the scene while I was writing The Guardiana.
Recently, I discovered the source of an image that inspired pieces of The Right of Kings and got to read Chris Morin's Circle of Death. I can't say how influencial that image was, even though I hadn't read the story at the time. You never know what might become the seed of a story.
Before 2013, I wrote scenes here and there on the timeline, but never finished anything. I knew what would happen, but hadn't sat down and written it yet. The Sands of Time universe is far from finished, but I love every moment I get to use to create it.
