Painted Princess! Invidia’s Flashback!
Another Invidia Short by AMI MEITSU
It was clear that Invidia was in another rage, she hated
seeing Arty at work! Everyone else (Well mostly cadets) he worked with picked
on her!
“Idiots…” She growled under her breath.
“Invidia I’m sorry! I told you they do dumb things!” Arty
said. He was following her down the hall on her way back home.
“I know that! But you could at least stop them before the
start!” She hissed as she entered the apartment, she then sat on the couch and
pouted.
“Oh don’t be that way!” Arty sat next to her. “You act like
you’ve ever been picked on before!”
‘Yes, I know but it’s annoying! I am NOT a thing!’ She thought. “I know that…” she muttered. “They always pick
one me…But it’s insulting…”
“They’re just being idiots.” Arty said.
“At least they only say things…”
‘Huh?’ Arty looked at
her.
“I used to get picked on when I was little too…and they did
more than just talk,” Invidia admitted.
“You told me that.” Arty informed her.
“And I know I told you I was painted once.”
‘Painted?!’ “I don’t
remember, you must have told me a long time ago.
“Well it happened when I was about four or five…” Invidia
started.
Sometime in the 2180’s
At the edge of the Andromeda Galaxy
Years before the Yamato was
brought up and before the Cometines became a threat, Prince Zordar, who ruled
at the time, sat in his throne room with Invidia on his lap.
“Play!” She said.
“No Princess, Daddy has to listen to this…” Zordar stated
as he looked at two of his generals, who were giving him or trying to give him
some information he needed.
“Play!” Invidia whined. She looked up at him, even without trying
to be- she was so cute! Her eyes may have been black but they were big and
adorable, the way Zordar dressed her added to it. She wore a little, long
sleeved black dress and slippers as she tried to kick her feet.
“I can’t play Honey, I have things to do.” He picked her up
and looked at his generals “We’ll continue this in the meeting.”
“I love you…” Invidia said as her father carried her into
her playroom.
“I know Princess…” he kissed her head. “I love you too…” He
put her down.
“Father!” She looked up at him.
“Daddy has to go to a meeting.” Zordar explained. “You have
to stay here, I’m sorry.”
“But…”
“Hold on.” Zordar left, he had to find something to keep
her amused. ‘Let’s see…something amusing…’ Zordar pondered. Invidia had
a bunch of toys but they sometimes didn’t keep her occupied for long. ‘She did
mention painting once…’ he thought.
After a couple minutes he went back into the room, where
Invidia was waiting for him. “Here…” He set some things on the floor, paint,
paper, etc…
“Huh?” She looked at him and smiled.
“Come here,” he said.
Invidia sat where he was and Zordar handed her a paint
brush. “Now, you need to stay here okay?”
“Uh huh…” Invidia wasn’t listening; she was lying on her
stomach as she painted a long blue streak across the paper.
“Are you going to be okay by yourself?”
Invidia nodded. “Uh huh…”
“Okay.” He kissed her on the head. “I’ll see you in an hour
or so…”
“Uh huh…” Invidia said again. She didn’t care what he did
now, she was happy.
Zordar left and she began humming to herself, it was a song
her mother used to sing. Zordar had a recording of it that he played for her at
times; Invidia loved the sound of it.
While she did that a few kids walked down the hall, three
of the General’s kids to be exact they were all about eight or nine.
“I hate being here, we can’t do anything!” One of them
complained. She was only girl of the three, and her name was Rossana. Though,
despite having a ‘good’ name Rossana wasn’t necessarily good.
“I know.” One of the boys sighed, his Father brought him
here almost every day and it was tiring. The kids could do anything! Most of
the rooms were off-limits, the kitchen was definitely off-limits and the
playroom was Invidia’s and only Invidia’s.
Speaking of which, they came to it a minute later.
“Oh, look what we have here…” The other boy, Zadek said as
he looked at Invidia.
“Aw, she’s all alone…Finally…” Rossana said. She had been
waiting for a chance to get her. It wasn’t that Invidia had done anything,
Rossana just didn’t like her. ‘Just because she’s Royal she thinks she’s
special she go anywhere and do anything she wants! It’s not right.’
“No one around…we can do whatever we want…” The other boy,
Abel said.
“Get her.” Rossana whispered.
They walked into the room and surrounded her, Invidia paid
no attention.
“Hey Princess…” Zadek said.
Invidia looked up for a second, but continued painting.
“Hey!” Abel grabbed her hair and pulled her head up. “We’re
talking to you, Freaky!”
“I’m not freaky!” Invidia whined.
“Yes you are! You’re not green and
that means you’re not really Cometine!”
“Yeas I am! LEAVE ME ALONE!” Invidia said.
They ignored her “Ooh, what’s this?” Rossana picked up her
paint set.
“That’s Mine!”
Rossana swirled it around and flung it at Invidia. “Oops…”
she said.
“My dress!” Invidia whined as she began to cry.
“Aw you made her cry…” Zadek said. “I wanted to do that!”
He pushed her over.
“Stop it!” Invidia sobbed. “You’re hurting me!”
“And now we’re painting you…” Rossana flung the brush at
her again. This time it splattered in her hair.
“No!” Invidia sobbed. She got up and tried to run.
“Hold her still!” Rossana ordered.
Able held her and Invidia whimpered.
“You think that just because you’re Royal you’re
special…Well how’s this?” Rossana asked as a streak of blue paint went on
Invidia’s cheek then, she held the brush over her
head, letting the paint drip into Invidia’s hair.
They left a couple minutes later, leaving Invidia as
nothing but a crying painted mess. ‘Why?’ She thought as she cried. ‘What
did I do? I’m just a little girl!’ “Father!” She
whined as she left. Her hair and dress were splattered with several different
colors, possibly ruining them. ‘It’s not fair…I’m always being picked on…’
Invidia trudged down the hallway until she came to the
meeting room. She looked up for a second before coming in. “Father!”
“Huh?” Everyone in the room looked at her.
“Invidia!”Zordar went over and picked her up. “What happened, Honey?”
“They…they painted me!” Invidia cried.
“You need a bath…” Zordar said.
Invidia laid her head on his shoulder. “Father…” she
whined.
“I know you’re upset but it’ll be all right…” Zordar rubbed
her head and the staff looked at him. “What?” He asked. “Am I supposed to
ignore her? She is my daughter!” With that he left and brought her into her
bathroom.
“I can take a bath on my own…” Invidia pouted.
“I know that, but I need to clean you up.”
“No!”
It didn’t work, five minutes later Invidia was sitting in
the bath with Zordar sitting outside of it as he scrubbed her arm.
“Father! It hurts!” Invidia whined.
“Do you want this paint off or not?” Zordar asked as he put
shampoo in her hair.
“But Father…”
“Stay still!”
“No!”
“Invidia! Don’t say ‘no’ to me!”
“But Father!”
They argued for the next couple minutes before Zordar
pulled Invidia out, put her in a new dress and put her in bed.
“You need a nap.” He said. ‘Besides, if I can get her
out of the way then I can find who’s picking on her…’
2220…
“You’re kidding me.” Arty said.
Invidia shook her head. “No, and now that I think about it,
it was A LOT worse than what Akira’s friends did to me when she was six.”
“Aw, I didn’t think you’d been picked on that much.”
“It was that Rossana, she always started it! She was
jealous of me! I hardly acted spoiled; I just wanted to cuddle my father!”
“So you were quite cuddly as a little girl?” Arty teased.
“Maybe…” Invidia muttered.
“And that hasn’t changed!” Arty hugged her.
“Arty stop it!” Invidia said.
‘I guess people messing with you doesn’t
change…but at least Arty’s sweet when he does it…’ She thought. “I love you…”
“Yes, I love you too…” Arty said.
Invidia smiled at him and laid
down with her head in his lap, just enjoying his company…
