New Years 2225
By Yuki Wildstar
He looked at his family as they laughed and talked with one another. It warmed his heart that their sons were following in his footsteps. Alexander Wildstar showed a lot of promise to be a great leader. He was smart and took everything in with ease. His calmness gave him the ability to think things out before reacting. His youngest son Derek Junior was smart but short with his action. He reminded him of himself when he was first sent out to Iscandar. Another year and Alex would be heading to Officer school, while DJ will be heading there in another two years. Alex would be commissioned first as an officer. Which made it hard on his little brother. Thank god for their sister the youngest of the three. She seemed to be levelheaded and had a heart of gold. She was so nurturing and when she walked into the room it lit up. Nova sat next to their daughter. She was still beautiful in his eyes. Twenty years married and he still was deeply in love with his wife. They had their ups and downs. But he always remembered the good. “Daddy, what are you thinking about?” Lexie asked.
“Oh nothing. Just enjoying you guys. So, what are you going to do when you get back to school?”
“I have to work on my first project with my design class. I have to sketch out a dress. I was thinking something sexy and simple. Everyone else is going with fancy and over the top. I prefer simple and elegant. And mom said she will model it for me.”
He smiled. He always thought she looked great for her age. She still looked the same as the day he met her. “Dad, I’m going to need that letter of recommendation from Uncle Stephen. Did he give it to you?” Alex Wildstar said.
“As a matter of fact, he did. It’s in my office. I’ll go get it.” He said. He walked into his office and rummage through his desk. He looked up when his door closed. “Hey what’s up?” he smiled as his wife walked in and slipped her arms around his waist.
“Are you alright?” she asked.
“Of course, why?”
“You looked so far away. What were you really thinking?” she asked.
His face soften and said. “I was thinking of how lucky I am to have you and that you gave me three great kids. I can’t believe that they are getting so big. They make me feel so old. Alex is almost out of high school and heading to officer school. Then DJ will be gone. Lexie is not too far after. Let’s have a baby.”
Nova laughed. “I think that boat has sail. But think of it this way. You and I will have a lot of alone time. No more going away for the weekend or being quiet at night OR wondering who is going to walk outside with their friends. It will be just you and I. I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to have you all to myself.” She kissed him.
“Mmm, you make sense. I didn’t think of it that way. As always, you are right, Mrs. Wildstar. Why don’t we lock the door?” He raised his eyebrow and grinned. “We have a few minutes before the new year comes in.”
Nova chuckled. “I don’t think so, buddy. We need a lot more time for that. And the kids will wonder what happened to us. Not to mention how gross they will feel when they figure it out. So, I promise, I will make it up to you later.” She kissed him quickly and took his hand.
“Is everything alright mom?” DJ asked his mother.
“Your father was just getting sentimental about you guys growing up and moving on. If he could he keep you here forever, he would.”
“Well, we can if that makes him feel better.”
“Oh no. You guys will go off and live your lives. I need the rest and I want to spend time with your father.” She moved some hair from her sons face and said. “You know, you remind me so much of your father. He was a little short with some people when he was younger. But he grew into a great leader and officer. I can’t wait until I see you do the same. He is so proud of you and your brother. Although you gave us both a run for our money, you turn out pretty okay.” She joked.
“Oh, I don’t know. I think dad wanted to kill me a few times.” He said.
“Well, you did take his car for a spin once and a while. And you almost blew up a fighter, and then there was the time you threw that big party here after he said, no and some of the furniture was destroyed. I think you turned out okay AND your father didn’t kill you.”
He laughed. “I don’t blame him at all.”
“So how are you and Marisa?” she asked.
“What’s to say about that. Hmm, we are good.”
“And Alex, what’s going on with him and Anne?”
He shrugged his shoulder. “I guess okay. She hates that he is going away for officer school. And he’s not happy about her going off to Milan for designer school. I think they will break up.”
Nova frowned. The last thing she wanted was to see her sons not happy. “I’m sure they will work it out.” She said.
“Come on everyone their counting down!” Lexie yelled out.
“And remember tomorrow we leave first thing and celebrate Hatsumode and then we have to go to hero’s hill and pay our respects there to.” Nova announced. Derek wrapped his arm around his wife shoulder and brought her close. They watched the TV as the count down began. At the stroke of midnight, they all cheered HAPPY NEW YEAR! They hugged each other and then Derek took his wife in his arms and kissed her long and passionate. The room stood quiet as their children watched. Nova pulled away and stare into her husband eyes. “I love you.”
“I love you too. Thank you.”
“For what?” she asked.
He looked over to his children and smiled. “For three great kids, 20 years of happiness and loving me no matter what.”
“I should be saying that to you.” She softly said.
“OH, COME ON!” DJ Wildstar said. “Your putting images again in our heads. I’m going to need some major therapy when I get older! Geese!”
Alex smacked the back of DJ head and laughed. “You are such an Uber Deej.”
Happy New Year Star Force!
