Letters of Regret

By Yuki Wildstar

28th of June, 2225

She woke up and found him gone. She picked up the phone and dialed his number. “Hello Seiji is he in?” she spoke into the phone. She heard his voice and smile. “You left early.”

“Yeah, I’m sorry. I didn’t want to wake you. I should be home early.”

“How about lunch?” She asked again. “We can meet,”

“I wish I can but I’m pretty swamped here.” He cut her off. “I have to go. I love you.” He said before she heard the phone hung up.

Dialing the number again she waited until she heard him speak. “Seiji, can you do me a favor. I have been trying to get a lunch date with my husband. Is there any way you can squeeze in a quick lunch with the admiral without telling him.”

“I sure can Mrs. Wildstar. As a matter of fact he is completely cleared from 1100 until 1500 hours. I’ll make sure not to squeeze any one in.”

He was cleared all afternoon why would he tell me that he was booked? Hmmm she wondered, maybe he has a lot of paper to do. “Thank you Seiji, I owe you one.” She said then hung up. She got the kids ready for summer camp and then took her time getting dress. She called their favorite restaurant for an order and told them she would pick it up on the way. She hummed to herself as she got dress. Carefully she put on her makeup and picked out a black skirt and white blouse to wear. She put on her new knee high boots that worked well with the outfit. She grabbed her purse and left to see her husband. It was a cool day to put her car top down and took in the wind. She stopped to pick up the meal and headed to EDF Headquarters. She stood there looking at the building. It’s been a long time since I walked into this building ever since what happened. She hated coming back. The snickering and gossiping wasn’t something she liked to be in the center of. And walking into the building reminded her on how she left there last. Taking a deep breath she walked into the building and rode the elevator up to his office. The aids on the floor stared as she walked past them to his office. She could feel the stares burn through her clothes making her body flush. She held her head high and smiled as she made her way to his office.

“Mrs. Wildstar, it’s good to see you. He went to a meeting but should be back shortly. Do you need help with anything?”

“Can you just get me some ice? I have everything else.” Seiji opened the door for her and she went to work setting up a romantic lunch. She dressed up his conference table making it look romantic with some candles that she brought from home. She gave it one last look and smiled. Seiji came in and told her that he was on his way and handed her an ice bucket. “Thank you. He doesn’t know does he?”

“No ma’am. He usually comes back and works with the Manager Director of docking contractors.”

“Well I’m sure he will understand that I would like to spend a little time with my husband.”

“Yes ma’am I’m sure she will.”

Description: 00.jpgShe? Did he say she? Hmm, she thought. “Well let me finish up and thank you again.” She finished putting the food on the plates and poured herself a glass of wine before putting the bottle in the ice bucket. She looked around his office and smiled. It fit him with the calming colors and wood desk and bookcases. Books sat on the shelf of atlas and star maps. She saw pictures of them place here and there. Standing over his desk a smile crept her face to see a picture of them on their wedding day. Next to it was a picture of their children taken for Christmas and then a rock that Miku colored for him. She giggled to herself when he opened the present to find a colored rock for father’s day. She touched his chair and took in the smell of leather that was throughout the room. On the far wall were pictures taken from previous missions. There were pictures of all the Star Force members when they were going to Iscandar and back. He also put up articles of when Deslock came to visit and a picture of the two of them together. The most recent picture was of Alex’s graduation with Deslock, Namir and their families. It was a proud moment for them to see their oldest finally graduate. The door to his office swung opened and she turned to greet him. But her smile soon left her face.

She took his mind off of what’s been going on at home. She was fun, witty and beautiful. He enjoyed being around her again. It made him think back to when he worked with her in the past. If Sandor didn’t walk in on them back then what would’ve happened between them. Would it be her that he would have had the affair with? Would it have been her that he had a child with? His thoughts raced when he was with her. The pictures on his desk of their kids and her face always made him remember what he put his wife through and he held back his feelings. But in the last few weeks he found himself growing closer to her again. She made him laugh and forget about the distance between him and Nova. He missed his wife but the lies seem to get in the way for them. She never mentioned Spada and he never told her about Fiona. They headed back to his office talking about their meeting with the company head manager. It didn’t take long for Wildstar to find out who has been charging EDF with false charges. And when he comforted the manager he crumbled. Wildstar informed his superior and he was let go on the spot. They laughed as they got into the elevator and talked about what happened. “I’m so glad Nova caught that code. I would have never thought about it. This might have gone on for month even years. She was so good in her job. I only wish that she come back to work here. But she is happy at what she does now. I only wish that we could,” he trailed off. “Sorry, it’s just that things haven’t been right for a while with us.”

“Do you want to talk about it?” she asked.

“It’s a long story. I think we should just get back to the office.”

She stopped the elevator and turned to him with a serious look. “Derek I read about what happened with you and the Queen. I only wished it was me that was pregnant with your child. It tore me inside out that you had a child with someone else when we were getting so close before you went back to your wife. I fell so in love with you back then, and secretly I still am in love with you.”

“Fiona, please,”

“No I want to clear the air with us. It’s like we keep going back and forth with our feelings and I want to tell you that I have always had strong feelings for you.” She stepped closer to him and ran her finger down his face. He could feel his face turn red and his heart beat a little faster. She lean into him and kissed him with passion. Wildstar froze not sure what to do.

He pushed her away and wiped his mouth. “Fiona I can’t go down this road again. I might be having problems at home with Nova but it doesn’t mean that it’s okay to seek comfort elsewhere. I will admit that I had feelings for you back then. But that was a huge mistake and I love Nova even with all that we have and are going through. When I see how much she hurts for all the stupid screw ups I did I feel like a piece of shit. She has done everything to keep me happy, she has always been supportive and she never hurt me like I have her. I love her and if I mess up this time it’s not only her that I hurt it’s my kids. Every time I see her cry I hate myself more and more.”

“I know you do.” She softly said. “I just wished that somehow you and I,”

“I’m sorry Fi, but I can’t. I don’t want to go down this road anymore. I don’t denied that I had feelings for you at one time and your advances are appealing but I need to work on my marriage and not put myself into another situation that will end it. She has bent over backwards to make it work and I have to work on it too.”

Feelings disappointed again she stepped back and bowed her head. “I understand Derek, but just know that I’m here for you if you want to talk or anything.”

Whoa I’m here with a beautiful woman and she is throwing herself at me. But if Nova found out that she was back in my life we would be through. “Let’s just get back to my office and have lunch. We still have a lot to go over as to how much he has been skimming and send an invoice to the company for reimbursement.” He gave a small giggle and said. “I thought he almost went white and had a stroke when we comforted him.”

She knew he wanted to changeDescription: ya-13[1] - Copy.jpg the subject and she gave him a partial smile. “I do believe he did. That wet stain on the floor wasn’t because he dropped his water.” She said and they both let out a laugh. Taking a deep breath she smiled at him, “Are we alright?”

“Yeah, don’t sweat it. Let’s get going.” He switched the elevator back on and made their way up to his office making jokes about what happen.

“Derek you are too funny. I almost broke out in laughter when you showed him the invoices and then his boss AND owner of the company step into the room.” Fiona laughed.

He slip his arm around her waist and guided her towards his office. He swung open his door and they both stopped laughing to see her standing there. “Nova, what, what are you doing here?” he quickly let her go and try to speak. “This is a surprise, you brought lunch.”

She couldn’t believe she was there with her husband. All this time and he never told her that she was back. She stared at them and said. “Save it! So this is why you’ve been so distracted and so tired to even touch me. Well that explains a lot.”

“Nova it’s not what you’re thinking.” She walked closer to them, took her glass and threw the wine into Fiona face. “NOVA!”

“DON’T!” she swung around to him and then walked over to the table. She picked up a plate and walk back to him. “I picked you up lunch!” and then pushed the plate into his face. “I hope it tasted good,” then punched him in the chin almost knocking him to the floor. “Don’t bother coming home!” she said through grit teeth and then left his office.

“Oh my god Derek, are you alright?” Fiona asked trying to help him stand up.

He slowly stood up and rubbed his chin. “God she can give a good right hook. I should go.”

“Derek, do you want me to go with you? I can explain that nothing happened.”

“I don’t think so. It will only make things worse. Maybe I can catch her before she gets out of the building. Fiona I think its best that you go.” He said hoping that she wouldn’t cause a scene. Damn! I knew this would bite me in the ass. I should have never agreed to work with her.  Now it looks like I’m going to lose her again. I just have to catch her and talk with her. She has to know that nothing happen. SEIJI!” he yelled out to his aid.

“YES SIR!” he ran into the room.

“She wanted it to be a surprise, sir. Is everything alright?” His voice quivered not sure what happened to see his boss with food all over his face and uniform.

“Never mind, you can go. It’s not your fault. You were only doing a favor for my wife. Cancel whatever  appointments I have, I have to go.” He ordered then grabbed his jacket and race out the office. He ran out of the building to his car. The sound of a woman crying made him turn and from the corner of his eye he saw her standing next to her car crying. He walked up behind her and said. “Nova, can we talk?”

“Go away! How could you! After all that’s happened, after everything! Now this! I meant it when I said don’t come home. I don’t ever want to see you again. I HATE YOU!” she pushed him out of the way and opened her car door.

“Nova please wait don’t go.” He held on to her wrist and turned her to face him. “Nothing happened, its only work. Anyway, you never mention to me about you having lunch with Spada. Or did you not think I wouldn’t find out?”

“It was just lunch and anyway he is engaged to be married. It was nothing to even bring up. It was that one time I haven’t seen him since. And if you did know why didn’t you ask me?”

“I did and you never said a word. I gave you the opportunity that night and you didn’t say a word.”

“And that is why you’ve been so distance.”

“Kind of,”

“And Fiona?”

“I’m going to be honest my first thought was to see what would happen with me and her. But I love you so much and never wanted to hurt you again. You’re the only one for me, no one else. She actually wanted to tell you that there was nothing between us.” It was best not to mention what happened minutes before he entered his office. If I tell her about us kissing I know I will never see her or the kids again. This is one secret that is best to keep to the grave.

“Like I’m going to believe her.”

“Nov please let’s go somewhere and talk, preferably somewhere where I can change into clean clothes.” He looked at his uniform and the food still stuck to his clothes. “Come back to my office. I have a change of clothes or we can go home.”

“No I don’t want the kids to see us fighting. And I’m sure not going in there. It’s a leach of a place.”

“Then where do you want to go. We can sit in your car and talk or go to my car.”

“No I just want to go.” Her lower lip started to quiver and she turned to get in her car.

“Nova please, please let’s just talk about this.” He took hold of her hand and tried to guide her towards the building.

“I said no, I don’t ever want to go in there ever again.” She yanked her hand back making him flinch. “I can’t go in there, I feel like a fool. I felt like a fool then and it’s worse now. I took you back and now they have more to talk about.” She told him.

“Oh Nova, I don’t care what people say about me. I don’t sleep with them I sleep with you.”

“And you haven’t done that in a long time. So that makes me look like the biggest fool in the universe. Just go, I have to go.” She cried into her hands.

He pulled her closer to him and held her in his arms. He watched as people walked around them staring. For once he realized what she felt. “Come on let’s go to my office.”

“No I don’t want to go back in there.” She whined.

“It’s alright baby, come on.” He kissed the top of her head and led her back into the building and up to his office. His aid tried to stand up and salute him but Wildstar nodded his head no. “I don’t want to be disturbed.” He told him as he closed the door behind him and locked the door. He took off his jacket and began to take his shirt off. “Let me change and then we can talk.” He took out his extra uniform and walked into his private bath. Looking into the mirror his chin was bruised were she hit him. Great I guess I deserved it. She sure has a hell of a punch. A little harder and I’d still be on the floor out cold. She sat on the couch in his office looking out his window. She pulled her legs up to her chest and waited until he came out. Standing in the door way he wasn’t sure what to say to her. Their eyes met and he gave her a slight smile. “So what now?” he asked.

Description: ya-2[1].jpg“I really don’t know. I’m so sick and tired of crying over you. I pretty much am all cried out for you. What tears I have left are for my children.” She got up and brushed off her skirt. “I have to go.” She said and walked towards the door.

He raced behind her before she could leave. “Whoa, wait a minute. Come here and talk with me.” He took her hand and led her back on the couch. “I didn’t do anything I promise. She is just another co-worker. Anyway she is involved with someone.” Or at least I think she is, but at this point it’s best to let her think that she is. “So Spada is engage? Well that’s good to know.”

Description: ya-1[1] - Copy.jpg“I guess it’s good to know that she is with someone too. But I would have liked to have been warned ahead of time.” She looked at his face and saw the bruise. “Ouch, I’m sorry.”

“You have a good right hook. A little harder and I’d still be on the floor. But I deserved it, I should have been more honest with you. But you should have been too. Come closer,” he told her. “Can I have a kiss? Or will you give me another right hook,” making her laugh. “Well I’m glad I can still make you laugh even if you abuse me.”

“You know I hate being here. I hate this building.”

“Well let me give you something to like about coming here. Maybe you’ll come visit me more often.”  He lean in and kissed her slowly easing her back on the couch. He moved his hand behind her and unzipped her skirt. With ease he worked his other hand to her blouse and unbuttoned it exposing her bra.”

“Derek, what if someone needs to speak to you?”

“Don’t worry about it.” He kissed her lips. He expertly unsnapped her bra and kissed her chest. Her chest moved faster as he moved his hand over her breast. Her breathing became rapid as he worked on taking off her skirt. He teased her slowly, kissing her on her neck and shoulders. She fumbled with his zipper wanting him. She moaned slightly getting him excited. He looked into her eyes and smiled. “I love you.” They quietly made love not caring what anyone outside his office thought.

They dressed quickly smiling at each other for what they did in his office. She button her blouse and he stood in front of her running his hand threw her hair. “I love you Nov, you know that. I would do anything for you.”

“Get rid of her.” She said looking away.

“Done, I will reassign her to someone else. Now my turn, Spada.”

“I haven’t seen him since that day. Plus he is out of EDF, I don’t think I’ll be seeing him again. He has his own practice and half the time he is out of the country. I promise the next time I see him, even if it’s from the distance I will let you know.” She lean in and kissed him.

“Fair enough. Now let’s go home so we can repeat what happen here at home. And by that I mean what we just did not the other thing. I would like to actually eat something this time around and to think it was from our favorite place. How is Andrea?”

“He sends his best and wants us to stop in sometime.”

“Was it good?”

“It was delicious and by that means the food. It was your favorite.”

“Damn,” he snapped his finger. “I guess I owe you lunch. How does tomorrow sound, we can go to Andrea and take a very long lunch.”

She grinned at him and said. “You promise?”

He smiled back at her and kissed her wanting her again. “Let’s get the heck out of here.” He opened the door and they walked out to see the aids looking at them and then quickly looking away. He lean closer to her and said in a low tone. “I see what you mean. I’m so sorry.” He stopped in the middle of the offices and kissed her long and hard as everyone looked on. They pulled away and he smiled at her as he looked deep into her eyes. “I Love this woman!” he shouted to everyone. “And if I hear anything about her or me and our private life be prepare to be serving on a cargo ship picking up space crap. Do I make myself clear?” They all sat there silent and nodding their heads. “Seiji! I’m going home with my wife if you need anything call me.”

“Sir, what about your meeting with Councilman Sandor?”

“I’ll call him. Why don’t you wrap everything up here and then go home. I’ll see you in the morning.”

Office of Doctor Charles Wong and Michael Spada M.D.

Description: vlcsnap-2012-01-14-15h41m53s145.pngHe sat behind his desk catching up on medical diagnoses for his patients. It was a long day and he wanted to hurry up and leave and get home to see Nicole before she left for Congo in a few days. He sat back and thought about their first meeting. He thought how beautiful she was. She was smart and caring. How she took time to take care each and every child that came into the camp site. He didn’t say much to her at first still feeling the pain of Nova rejection. She broke his heart when she called him that day. He wanted to give her a hundred reasons not to go back to him. But he just agreed and told her he wished her well. How he loved her even with being engaged to Nicole. When he saw her name on his schedule he couldn’t believe it. He was nervous to see her again and when he walked into the room he knew why he loved her. She was still beautiful. He could feel his heart beat faster and harder. He wanted to take her in his arms and kiss her then he looked down and saw her daughter. How he wished she was his. If she was it would have been different. For sure they would be together living happily back in the states. He would have made her happy. He would have never hurt her like HE has. He followed their life after she left. The stories that were told made him want to reach out to her. But then he met Nicole and thought it was best to move on. Wildstar was right, even if she did leave him for good their children is what bind them. He would be in her life forever because of their children and she would always love him. She wasn’t his she had her life with him. He finished his last file and took a breath. “Wow what a day. Debra, can you please put these files back for me.” He called out of his office door to the nurse.

“Sure doc, oh yeah this came for you this afternoon. It looks important.” She said then placed an envelope on the desk.

“Thank you,” he opened the envelope and began to read it. He sat there reading it over and over. He looked at the address and then picked up the phone. “I need a direct line to Metropolitan Hospital New York New York.” He said into the phone and then waited. The time there would be early in the morning but he knew that there would be someone there. He heard the operator come on and he said. “Get me the hospitals law office.”

“Sir that office is closed.”

“I need to speak to someone right now. I’m calling from Great Island, what time will they be in?”

“They come in at 8 a.m. you can call back then. That’s only in a couple of hours. If you like we can have someone call you back once they come in.”

“Yes have someone call as soon as they come in. The number is 81-897-566-8902, if I don’t hear from anyone exactly at 8 I will call back.” He said then hung up. He picked up the papers again and read it once again. This can’t be right. It has to be a mistake. He needed to know what it was all about and decided to wait there and see if they would call him back. His nurse peeked in and he told her to go home that he was waiting on important phone call. He paced around a few times and checked the exam rooms. He tried to stay focus on some paper work but kept looking at the phone waiting for it to ring. He sat at his desk tapping nervously when it finally rang filling the room with its ring. “Hello?” he snatched the phone and spoke into it. “Yes this is he. Who am I speaking with?” he asked.

“This is Mr. Norman Finestein. How can I help you Doctor Spada.”

“Well I just received a certified letter from your hospital about a paternity test.”

“Ah yes. As it explains on the letter the hospital has found an error on several test that were done in the month of March in the year 2220. Your name and an Admiral Wildstar were among those that they suspect were tainted. We ask that you take those papers to a lawyer and have another test to confirm that the test that were taken were accurate. In the mean time I am prepared to offer you and Admiral Wildstar a settlement,” he never finished hearing what he was saying. Could this be? Could she be mine and not Derek’s? How is he going to tell this to Nova? He picked up his phone and dialed the only number he knew to call. “Office of Samuel Weskovise,” he heard.

“Hello Betty, is he still there?”

“He is always here Michael. I’ll put you through hold on a second.” She said.

He tapped his fingers on the desk feeling like the silence would never end. “Michael! Hello, how are you? What do I owe this pleasure?”

“I know you’re busy but I have a problem, can we have dinner and talk about it?”

“Well it’s not like my wife is always expecting me. How about the restaurant on Shin Gin Blvd in an hour?”

“I’ll be there.” He said then hung up the phone. He grabbed his car keys and coat and went to meet him.

Dinner was long and Weskovise looked over the papers. “It’s a heck of a dilemma. Do the other parents know?” Samuel Weskovise was a dear friend of Michael Spada. He and Samuel went to first year of college together until Samuel decided to go to law school. He was a pale man with flaming red hair. He stood 5 foot 8 inches tall and dark green eyes.

“I don’t know. I just got those today. I have no clue if Nova got the same thing. This is going to kill her, not to mention Derek. If she did, this will destroy them but I have to know.”

“I understand. I will get on it right away. How do you want me to handle this?”

“I want you to be gentle about this. If anything I don’t want to see her hurt. She has been through a lot and I don’t want to see her hurt anymore.”

“This isn’t going to be easy. She is going to be angry and her husband is one of the most famous and powerful man on this planet.”

“I don’t give a shit about him. But for her I want you to do this delicately. Please Samuel, she is very special to me. I have seen her go through so much and now this. I know she will hate me but I still have to know. Is she mine?”

He nodded his head and knew he meant it. The way he talked about her in the past he could still see that he loved her. “I will do my best. I’ll have my assistant draw up the papers first thing in the morning. But if he is the way you said he is, be prepared for fight if she is yours.”

“I don’t care, I just need to know. We can deal with that after we find out.” He said.

“I see, can I ask you how is Nicole taking this?”

“She doesn’t know. But I guess I should tell her. She deserves to know.” He said, “I should go, I have to tell Nicole. Thank you Sammy for everything.”

“I will contact you once I hear from their lawyer. I am sure that they will get someone once they get the papers. Good luck with Nicole.” They stood up and shook hands and left.

He drove back to his apartment and parked. He sat in his car staring into space wondering how he was going to tell her. He thought about Nova and how she was going to take the news. The last thing he wanted was to hurt her. Maybe this will bring them together again. If she is his he wanted to know, he needed to know. He walked into his apartment and could hear her in the kitchen. He placed his jacket away and made his way to the kitchen. She stood over the sink washing dishes. Stepping behind her he wrapped his arms around her waist. “Hello baby, sorry I had to cancel dinner.”

“It’s alright Michael.” She turned and kissed him on the lips. “So what was so important?”

He took a deep breath and took hold of her hand leading her to the living room and sitting her down on the couch. “I have something very important to tell you. Please hear me out. Remember when I told you about Nova and me. How at one time she thought that I was her daughter’s father?” she nodded her head and remember him telling her everything when they started to date. It was a sad part of his life that she wanted to wipe from his memory. “Well I received a letter from the hospital where Miku was born in and well, it seems like a lot of the babies that were born within the month and year that had paternity test done seem to be tainted. I don’t know how this happen but I spoke to a rep from the hospital and he confirm it. I was talking with Samuel Westovise about filing another test and well if she is mine I want to be part of her life. This may take a fight but I have to. If she is my daughter I want to be her father.”

She ran her hand on his face and smiled. “You deserve to know and she deserves to know who her real father is.”

“Nicole, this may get ugly. I know Wildstar and he is as stubborn as a bull. He will fight me tooth and nail to stop me from taking her. It may take a while before all this is finally settled. Are you going to be able to handle it?”

“I’m here for you. You do what you have to do.”

He smiled at her and held her in his arms. “Thank you, I love you.” He said into her ear. He looked across the room and focused on a picture of him and Nova on their last mission. I love you Nova, I never stopped loving you, he thought at the same time.

Wildstar residence

Late morning

Description: vlcsnap-2012-01-14-18h42m17s109 - Copy.pngShe walked up from the beach shore taking in a long run and swim. It was a beautiful morning for a good run and swim. She smiled to herself as she walked back to their house. Derek was long gone to work. Alex was preparing to start his first year of college and was enjoying his time with Annie before she left for the states.  Mark and DJ were excited to start at the EDF High School and Miku couldn’t wait to start school herself. Nova went into her room showered and dressed. She walked into the kitchen and poured herself a cup of tea then sat down and looked through the news paper. She thought of going into the hospital today but thought it best to stay home. With all the kids out of the house at camp it felt odd, but she enjoyed the silence of the house. Something she hadn’t heard in long time. Walking into the living room she grabbed some medical magazines and made her way up to Derek study and stepped out onto the new roof top deck. It was just heaven sitting up there taking in the mountains and shore line. She thought she could see forever up there. She lay out on the patio chair and took in some sun. How she wished he was home to see the clear blue sky and bluish green sea. From the distance she could hear the phone ring. She quickly ran to get it and picked it up. “Hello.” Her smile widen when she heard his voice.

“Hello gorgeous. How’s your day going?” she heard his husky voice come through the phone.

Description: vlcsnap-2012-01-14-18h47m24s106.png“Not good, I miss you. Can’t you come home and enjoy this beautiful day with me?”

“I wish I could. I rather be there with you but I have to work. Anyway you deserve a little time for yourself.”

“But it’s so quiet here, and I rather spend my time with a certain handsome admiral in my bed.”

“Hmm really, and what admiral is that. I hope it’s not that little troll down the hall.”

“Hahah, I don’t think so. I was kind of thinking someone about 5 foot 11 inches tall, dark hair, dreaming dark brown eyes and body from hell. So do you know anyone in the description?”

“Mmm, I think I have someone in mind. Would you like for him to stop by later and give you a nice massage?”

“Don’t tease me.”

“I’m not teasing you,” he smiled into the phone.

“I would like that very much.” She lean the phone into her shoulder and said. “And what would this handsome man do first?”

“Well let’s see, First he would lay you down on your back and cover only those private areas. Leave a little to the imagination. I would tell him to start with your feet and then your ankles. Massaging them gently with nice warming lotion,” he said turning his chair to finally face the door. He almost dropped the phone as Sandor stood there laughing. “Shit, Nov baby, I have to go. I have someone standing at my door.”

“Hey, not fair! You can’t just leave me here on the bed naked and wanting more.” She teased.

“Sorry baby, I have to go. I’ll see you tonight. I love you,” then hung up the phone. “Hey Stephen, um, how long have you been standing there?”

“Um, long enough to hear about a nice massage.” He said making Wildstar blush beet red. “Relax Wildstar I’ve had a conversation with Yvey over the phone to find someone standing over me giggling. Anyway, where do I get some warming lotion? That sound like something Yvey would go for.”  Making them both laugh out loud.

She stared at the phone surprised that he would hang up so quickly. “Well I just hope that he remembers where he left off.” She said out loud and then walked back into the study and sat behind his desk. “Well time to go over some things.” She started to take the mail when the door bell rung. “Damn.” She raced to the door and found a messenger standing there.

“Mrs. Wildstar?”

“Yes that’s me,” she said.

“This is for you. Please sign here.” He told her.

She signed the clipboard and then closed the door. “I wonder what this is?” she slowly walked back up to the study and sat once again in his chair. Opening the envelope she leaned back and began to read it.

What the hell is this? She continued to read and was dumbfounded at what it was. Is he kidding me? She thought. She picked up the phone and dialed the number on the letter head.  “Yes I would like to speak to a Mr. Samuel Westovise. This is Nova Wildstar.” She was placed on hold for a few seconds then heard a man’s voice.

“Mrs. Wildstar this is Mr. Westovise. How can I help you?”

“I’m sorry I just received some papers from your law office and I’m a little confused. Why would Mr. Spada file for custody for a child that is not his?”

“Mrs. Wildstar did you not receive a letter from the hospital that your daughter was born in?”

“A letter from the hospital that Miku was born in. What letter?”

“I think you need to get a hold of that letter. I have a copy that Mr. Spada handed to me I can email it to you right now. Then I think it’s best to contact a lawyer.”

“I, yes please email me it. I will be in touch.” She gave him the email address and then hung up. As she waited for it to come in she decided to look through the stack of mail that sat on his desk. Franticly she searched for the letter. It sat almost to the bottom of the stack and she quickly ripped it open. She read it word for word and her heart dropped to the ground. She picked up the phone and dialed the number on the paper. Biting her nails she waited patiently until she got through. She almost began to cry as minutes later she finally heard someone on the other line. “Yes, I need to speak with someone in the law office.” She said and then once again they put her on hold. She wanted to yell from frustration as she waited for someone to talk to.

“Hello this is Ms. Victoria Pryor, Mrs. Wildstar?”

“Yes Ms. Pryor, I just found a letter that was sent to me from the hospital about my daughter’s paternity test. Am I reading this correct? It states that the blood work done when she was born could be wrong and the possibilities of my husband being the father could be wrong.”

“I’m sorry Mrs. Wildstar but we found through investigation that the test done from February through July were done in to quick of a matter and found a lot of it inconclusive. If you feel that the test needs to be taken again we would gladly do it without charge.”

“Are you FUCKING kidding me! Have the test there again with no charge. Money is not the issue the issue is your hospital screwed up! How dare you put a price on something that is going to upset my life and my family life!”

“Ma’am! The hospital is willing to settle out of court,” the girl on the line said.

“Settle out of court! You people are kidding me! There’s not enough money in the world that will correct this.  We are talking about a five year old girl and a man she has know to be her father. You can take your settlement and shove it!” she yelled into the phone than slammed the receiver down hard. Her hands shook and tears ran down her face. She picked up the phone and dialed the lawyer’s number. “Mr. Westosive this is Nova Wildstar. I’m sorry but I wasn’t aware of the problem until now. Now can you please tell me what is Mr. Spada’s intentions.”

“I think you should seek council Mrs. Wildstar. But I can tell you this, my client is willing to take the test over again.”

“I, I, I have to, my god Derek, how am I going to tell him about this. I’ll have my lawyer contact you.” She hung up the phone and cried out loud. Finally collecting herself she picked up the phone and dialed HIS number.
