EDF Academy Great Island
Their romance was in full bloom. Derek and Marisa were inseparable since their first date. He walked down the hall as girls looked on. Mark Wildstar walked behind him and most of the girls would give him a second look. Now that his brother was off the market Mark Wildstar love life picked up. Girls would bump into him to strike up a conversation. DJ would smile at him and give him a pat on the back congratulating him for getting a reputation as a ladies man. He heard through the grape vine that he indeed finally lost his virginity to a popular girl. Though he never admitted to him, he came home one day and found him speaking to his father. DJ managed to get the end of the conversation. Something about a girl and the lecture from his father of ‘Just make sure you use protection next time.’ He grilled his twin all night about it but he was tight lip. DJ almost teased him about having a box of condom in his draw. He knew that his twin was a very private person but he still loved to tease him about things. DJ waved to Fico who now was dating one of many girls on and off from the academy. “Hey what’s up?”
“Hey Deej, we’re going to the mall, are you and Marisa coming?” Fico asked.
“Naw, we’re heading to the beach. Have some alone time.” DJ said.
Fico winked at his friend, “Alone time? Are you two sure you want that? I mean you two alone on the beach can make things really romantic.” He said jabbing him in the side.
“Lay off Fico, it’s nothing like that. We are not in a rush to do it. She isn’t like the others, she’s special. Not to mention my uncle Tony would give a shot gun wedding with my mom holding the trigger. Anyway I’ll catch you guys later. Mark, are you coming?” he yelled back to his brother.
Mark Wildstar lean in to and whispered into her ear making her laugh. He turned to his brother and waved him away. “I’ll meet you at home. I’m taking Stacy here home.”
DJ gave him a smiled and ran out the door to make it to the Marisa academy up the street. He always
picked her up in his new car that his grandfather got him. Derek Wildstar Senior ranted and raved about their mother’s parent giving them expensive gifts. Not to mentioned that he wanted to get him the car for his graduation. ‘What the hell do I get my kid now!’ he told his wife. “Derek, he doesn’t mind getting him things. Anyway you know that they are getting up there in age and he wants to be able to enjoy giving them things. Just let it go. He said you can pay for their college.’ She told him. “Great I get the most expensive part of their lives. It would have been better if I got the car and he paid for their college.’ He joked. DJ loved his car. It was one he hounded his parents for months. It wasn’t his father expensive car but it was something everyone awed about when he drove up in his new red Camaro that he’s grandfather had ship from the states along with Mark’s Black Camaro. He hop in and race to pick up Marisa.
She stood outside of the school talking to friends as she waited for him to pick her up. “Does Mark have a girlfriend?” her friend asked.
“I don’t think so. But he is very private.” She told her.
“How funny it would be if we both were dating Wildstar’s.” she giggled.
Marisa frowned and knew never to hook anyone of her friends let alone a stranger with Mark Wildstar. She too knew how others would use her parent’s fame to gain their own fame. She looked up the street and smile to see him drive him up the block. She waved as he drove up to where she was standing.
He got out of the car and ran towards her, hugging her and giving her a kiss. “How was your day?” he asked her.
“Much better that you’re here, where are we going today?” she smiled up at him.
“I thought home and just hung around the house and on the beach.”
“Great, is Miku going to be home?” she loved his baby sister and was always hoping to see her. She never had siblings so Miku was the baby sister she always wanted. She brushed her hair, helped her dress and did things she always wanted to do with a baby sister.
“I think my mom is going over to Uncle Sandor’s and Titi Yvey’s house with her. But she’ll be home early with her to cook dinner. Let’s stop at the Hop and get something to eat before we head home.” They drove to the café that everyone heads to after school and sat down in a quiet part of the restaurant. They both ordered fries and frozen cappuccino. They talked about their day and laughed at the silly things they saw or did. Marisa lean her head on his shoulder and he wrapped his arm around her. “Let’s go before it really gets crowded here.” He took her by the hand and they left to his house. It was beginning to get colder outside and they decided to head in doors to the guest house. DJ grabbed a movie and Marisa made popcorn to have while they watch a movie. They sat down on the couch and cuddle close to each other as the movie began. He wore his father’s cologne and she took in his scent. She lean her head onto his chest and lean back closer into his arms. DJ kissed the top of her head and she looked up to him and kissed him on the lips. Their kissing grew more intense as she pulled him down onto the couch. He traced her body with his hand and kissed her more intensely. “I love you Marisa.” He whispered into her ear.
“I love you too.” She said back as she reached down.
He moved her hand away and said. “No Marisa,”
“But why, I want you so much.” She said frustrated.
He got up and turned away. “Marisa I love you so much but I want our first time to be special. Not just one night that we may regret later.”
“But I want too.” She whined.
“I know, and I want you too. More than you’ll ever know. But someone has to keep their senses in this. I just don’t want to cheapen our first time. I can wait for you, we don’t have to rush things.”
Her eyes soften to his words and gave him a gentle kiss on the cheek. “It just makes me want you more.” She smiled.
“Come on stop it.” He laughed. “Watch the movie.”
“You’re such a spoil sport. You’re absolutely no fun at all.” She said then began to tickle him as he fought hard to stop her. They wrestle lightly with each other holding each other tight and falling down back onto the couch. Staring at her face he wanted her so much and maybe, he thought, maybe it would be the perfect time for them. He kissed her passionately as she pulled at his shirt and moving down to his pants. Their mood was quickly interrupted when Miku ran into the guest house laughing. He blushed hard and grabbed hold of his shirt adjusting it.
“What were you two doing?” Miku asked. “Were you two kissing like mommy and daddy?” she giggled at them.
“Hello Miku, glad to see you.” Marisa took hold of her and put her on her lap. “How was your day? I have another sketch I did for a blouse. Want to take a look at it?”
With wide eyes she jumped up and down excited to see the new drawing. “Yes, yes! Is it a pretty color?”
“Any color you like.” Marisa said as she pulled out her sketch from her bag. Nova walked into the room and gave a look at the two young lovers. She could see how uncomfortable DJ looked and wonder what it was DJ and Marisa where up to.
“Everything in here okay?” Nova asked her son.
“Yeah ma, we were just watching a movie.”
“Hmm, can you help bring in some bags DJ.” She asked her son.
“Sure,” he said then went out with her to her car. She watched as her son take some bags from the car and go into the house. He placed them on the counter and turned to see her staring at him. “What?”
“Are you two sure nothing happened in there?”
He blushed and turned away. “Mom! Nothing happened. I promise we are taking things really slow.”
“I hope so.” She huffed at him.
“I should take her home.” He said.
“She’s not staying for dinner?”
“I don’t know will you grill her?” he asked sarcastically.
“Deej, you know I would never do anything to make you or her feel uncomfortable. I promise I will be on my best behavior. I just don’t want you and Marisa to make a mistake that you two will regret and then hate each other later.” Her voice softened and she gave him a smile. “Derek, I know you have strong feelings for her. And it looks like she has strong feeling for you. I just want you two to take your time. Okay?”
He gave her the same smirk his father has and gave her a kiss on the cheek. “I gotcha mom, that’s why I want to go slow with her. She is really very special to me. Kind of like how dad was with you when you two dated. Love you very much.”
“Love you too sweetheart.”
Dinner was full of laughter and it soon turn late. “I need to take Marisa home, it’s getting late.” DJ announce as she finished helping Nova with the dishes.
“Alright sweetheart, don’t take too long.” Nova warned him.
“Yes Ma’am.” Marisa gave Nova a hug and said her goodnights to everyone. They soon drove up the hill going towards her house that was in the area of all the star force members. Each member made their stakes their long ago after the battle with Gamilon. The house where a mile to two miles apart and DJ home was the only isolated from the others in an alcove that was concealed from the public. If you didn’t pay enough attention you would simply drive by it. Only those that visited them knew how to get to their house. It didn’t take them long to reach near her house and he parked a little away from the front of the house. Turning the car off he reached over to her and kissed her. They sat in the car for a few minutes touching one another and kissing. She reached once more to him and he pulled away fast. “Marisa come on. You’re not making this easy for me.”
“And you’re not making it easy for me either. It’s okay Derek, I really want to.” She said as she kissed him more.
“Stop it! No! This would be one of those old cliché on how you lost your virginity in the back seat of a car. I don’t want that for you. I want it to be very special.”
“How special?” she asked intrigued.
“Oh I don’t know, dinner, a movie, and then maybe a night at a nice hotel with rose petals on the bed. A little champagne. Maybe some nice flowers. Music playing in the back ground. Something like that.” He said blushing.
“My you are a true romantic. Oh Derek, it’s so sweet. I like that so much.” She kissed him hard and passionate and said, “I guess we can wait then. I love you so much.”
“I Love you too. Now let me get you home before my mom calls your parents to see if I got you home safe as she would put it.” He smiled.

DJ Wildstar was floating on earth. He was top in his class on grades and flying. He didn’t get a chance to fly with his father and brother in Miramar over the summer due to conflict of their schedule but he was happy enough to spend time with Marisa. Much to his delight his Uncle Pesci and Aunt Denise invited him to go with them to Italy for a week so Marisa can get a feel of the fashion district there. Tagging along he was amazed as she soaked in all they told her about the industry. He even had the chance to meet with what she told him was a top designer for the season. The designer drooled and was in awe over everything she showed him and warned her not to show anyone her stuff for fear that someone would steal it. Marisa grabbed hold of the information and kept her designs from that day forward a secret to all even her mother. DJ would be the only one with his baby sister to see what she did. He was so impressed by her work that he offered her a job once she finished school. Denise was thrilled to hear those words for her daughters happiness was number one in her book. Plus she would always get first dibs on her clothes. That summer they were in separable and they went everywhere together. When school resumed DJ was feeling depressed to not be by her side. She would be going to the school up the street and he would be back at the academy. He pleaded with her to join the academy and she simply declined.
“It’s not what I want Derek. They have nothing for me there. After school I will be going to fashion instituted to study more and then I am hoping to start working for one of the best designers. It’s like me asking you to transfer to a plan school where you won’t be able to fly at all. We’ve gone to separate school all this time this is no different. I’ll see you in the morning.” She told him the night before school started. He drove to his school and jumped out after dropping her off and walked to see his friends for the last couple of years. His brother Mark now stood center of attention with the girls and they all giggled as he walked by. DJ waved to Fico that now was going steady with Aya Tanaka. DJ almost made it to his group of friends when a pretty girl bumped into him, causing them to drop their books.
“Oh gosh I’m so sorry. I didn’t see you.” He told her as they both bent down to pick up their things.
“It’s alright, I wasn’t looking either.” She said as he finished picking up his things and then grabbing hers off the floor. “Thank you, I’m Rina Yamamato I just got transfer here this year.”
“DJ Wildstar. Commander DJ Wildstar.” He said as he handed her a piece of paper. “Here you go sorry about that. Well I hope you like the school I should be going.”
She bowed her head sad that he didn’t want to talk to her and said, “Well I hope to see you around, DJ. Thank you for helping with my things.”
“Don’t mention it. It was part my fault. See you.” He said and went to catch up with Fico and Mark.
She stood there watching him as he walked with his friends into the building laughing and joking with each other. ‘My,’ she thought, such a hot guy. The late bell rang and kids ran to their classes while she made her way to the office. She was quickly handed her schedule and told to get to class fast that she would be late. Rina quickly went to her first class and walked in. All the other students were just settling down when she walked in and handed her schedule to him.
“Hello Cadet Yamamto. Welcome to Agronomics please have a seat next to commander Derek Wildstar.” He told her. She stood still thinking did she hear the name right. Was it the same guy she bumped into that morning? “Wildstar raise your hand.” Their teacher called to him. DJ raised his hand and she smiled at him. Rina was a pretty girl with blue eyes and dark red hair. Her slender body moved like a model walking down a runway while the other boys looked on. She nodded at DJ and sat down.
“Funny how we are in the same class,” She softly said to DJ.
“I’m sorry do I know you.” DJ asked.
Feeling disappointed she said. “You bumped into me out side.”
“Oh yeah, sorry, yeah it’s ironic that we are in the same class.” He smirked and she blushed. “Guess we should stay focus now. Old iron fist Kamichi hates when people don’t pay attention and he can be a real pain in the ass if he pegs you for a trouble maker.” She giggled softly and they turned to their studies. The rest of the day went smoothly for Rina, she managed to make a few friends and found out that she was in three other classes with DJ Wildstar. She walked with one of her new friends and asked.
“What’s the deal with Wildstar?”
“Which one?” Marina asked.
“There is another Wildstar?” Rina scratched her head.
“There is Mark Wildstar and DJ Wildstar, their twins, but not fraternal. DJ Wildstar looks a lot like his older brother Alexander Wildstar and his father.” She pointed to the board on the wall and show a picture of Alex from previous graduating classes. “Isn’t he dreamy? Anyways Mark Wildstar is just as hot as his brother DJ.”
“Well its DJ that I am talking about.”
“Oh he is off the market, sweetie. You’re too late.”
“What do you mean I’m too late?” she asked confused.
“Well a year or so back he was the number one bachelor to hook up with. He pretty much dated all the juniors here and some of the seniors. He slept with everyone until she came around.” Marina said with vile.
“She? She who?”
“Marisa Pesci, she goes to the school up the street. So now that she took him off the market he broke a lot of hearts. Lucky me I got to be with him before he hooked up with her.”
“You slept with DJ Wildstar!” Rina asked in shock.
“Sure, I only wished that it turned out more than a night at my house. You know that his father is THE Derek Wildstar and his mother IS Nova Forrest of the star force?”
“Um yeah, I think I’ve heard about them.”
“Are you serious they are THE Most popular people here on Great Island. Just a word from them and they can get you in anywhere. DJ goes to all the best concerts of all the hot bands and he has his own ship that he can fly. He is treated like royalty, could you just imagine what you can do if you were his girl.” She squealed with delight.
Rina just stood there staring at her as she explained who he was. But he was off the market as she would say and what could she do. “I guess,” she replied to her.
“Hey we’re going to the mall wanna come?” Marina asked.
“Yeah, sure why not.” Rina said hoping that it would take her mind off him.
She looked around the store and pick up a blouse that looked good on her. She held it up to the window and stared at her image in the window. It was a pale yellow blouse that would look great with the jeans she bought from the other store. She hummed a tune in her head as she looked out to the mall. Her heart almost stopped when she saw him walking by with Fico and two girls. She watched him as he took hold of the brunette’s hand and smiled at her. Rina stared closer at the girl and wonder what it was that made him fall for her. Who was she and why was he with her? She felt Marina’s hand on her shoulder and heard her whispered. “He is as good as they say. I ought to know. It was a wild and crazy night.” She giggled.
Rina licked her lips and could feel her heart beat faster. He is handsome, but he is with someone. Remember Rina you didn’t like it when it was done to you. Yeah, but it’s all fair game in love and war, she thought. “Well I wonder IF he is really off the market.” She purred.
“Do I hear a challenge coming on?” Marina said.
“I wouldn’t say a challenge. But I think I can get him to take a ride one more time.” She said in a low tone.
“What did you say?” Marina asked not catching what she said.
“Just come on.” She took her by the hand and they made their way to the café. Rina and Marina walked in and looked around. DJ sat in the far corner of the café with Marisa and the others laughing and talking. Rina looked over to the small stage and looked through the list of karaoke songs and picked one. She turned to the DJ and gave him the song to put on. The room filled with music and everyone turned to see her standing on the stage. She took the mic and began to sing. DJ looked in the direction of Rina as she began to sing Carly Rae Jepsen song ‘Call me maybe.’ She looked straight at him as she bellowed out the words in a prefect voice. At first he felt a little uncomfortable as everyone looked in the direction she was sing to and he stared away. He turned to Marisa and shrugged his shoulder as she looked on to see what was unfolding in front of her. He smiled at the girl that he bumped into at school and suddenly felt flattered to see someone sing to him. Marisa stared back and forth to DJ and this girl that was sing to him and could feel her temper grow.
“Derek I want to go.” Marisa said.
“Huh? Go but why?” She shoved him out of the booth that they sat at and started towards the door. DJ followed quickly and pulled at her arm. “Marisa what’s wrong?”
“I’m going home. You stay and enjoy your fan.” She said with sarcasm.
“Oh come on Marisa. You’re not mad about that. She’s just,” he began and then saw Marisa looked past him. DJ Wildstar turned to see Rina coming towards them. She took his hand and said. “Call me,” and gave him a piece of paper with her number on it. DJ blushed and couldn’t help but laugh. Marisa jerked her hand and walked quickly away from him. “Marisa! Wait!” he yelled after her. “Come On, it’s cute that she has a crush but I love you. You’re the only for me. Marisa! Please slow down.”
He finally caught up and grabbed her arm. “Let me go!” she snapped.
“Babe, come on. Don’t pay attention to her. She’s no one.” He pulled her closer to him and kissed her.
“Who is she?” she finally asked calming down.
“No one, she’s just transfer here this year. I bumped into her this morning, that’s all. I swear,” he said crossing his heart. “She’s in a couple of my classes and nothing more. I didn’t do or say anything to lead her on. I love you, no one else. Come on, have I given or done anything to make you think I was cheating on you. I swear there is no one else.” He pleaded.
“Hmm, you do have a past Derek. Or have you not forgotten that? And she seems determine to make herself known to you.”
“Come on she’s a silly girl. There’s nothing there for me. I have all I need here.” He wrapped his arms around her waist and hugged her tight. Rina looked on from the door of the café as they argued back and forth. She smiled to herself knowing that she struck a chord with his little female friend and turned to go back in. DJ and Marisa kissed, “How about dinner with my family?” He asked her.
“I can’t Derek, I promised my parents I would come home early. My mom has to leave for the states for a few days and she wants to spend time with both of us.”
“That’s right Dad is going with her with Uncle Sandor and Titi Yvey. But I think Titi Yvey is going to see Dee.”
“Do you know what they’re going there for?” she asked concerned.
“Oh, nothing, their going over some budgeting which will mean my dad will be all wine up from this trip when he gets home this weekend. So I’ll have to walk on egg shells around him and not mention work or flying.”
“I don’t get it.” Marisa said confused.
“Trust me you don’t want to know. See they go over there and look over some of the budgeting for their new and old ships and well. They come back pissed off more than when they left. EDF heads over in the states don’t want to spend money on older ships which means The Argo. So my dad fights tooth and nail to get them to reconsider. That takes about two days of fighting and then they finally give in after he threatens to pull all their ships from Great Island. And the battle begins. But in the end they all manage to agree on things. It’s always the same story.” DJ explained.
“I see, sounds like a lot of headaches.”
“Tell me about it. I went with him one time and I was too through with it.” He rolled his eyes and laughed. “Come on I’ll take you home.” He put his arm around her shoulder and they walked back to his car to go home.

DJ Wildstar walked into class the following day and tried to stare away from Rina. He kept his head down and stayed focus. Rina didn’t make eye contact with him and also ignored what happened at the café. The bell rang and they all got up ready to go to their next class. Rina took hold of her backpack and flung it over her shoulder hitting DJ in the side of the head. “Ouch!” he yelled out.
“OMG, I’m so sorry. I didn’t see you there. Are you alright?” she asked.
“Yeah, I’m okay.”
“Gosh let me see.” She took hold of his face and stared at the bump that now grew on his head. “It’s gonna be a shiner. I’m so sorry Wildstar.”
“It’s alright, don’t worry about it. I’ll get ice from the nurse and it will go down.” He said making light of it. He helped her pick up her bag and they walked out together to their next class.
“Did you do that assignment that Fujita gave us?” she asked trying to make conversation.
“I started it but I’m stuck on the turned around flying. He wants something that either no one has done or have done and live through it. I’ll have to ask my dad he knows more about air speed and G-force. I’d asked Alex’s but he is over in the states visiting his girlfriend. Or at least I think she still is.”
“Gosh your way ahead of me in that, I haven’t even started. I was thinking of going with space combat and I don’t even know where to begin in that.” She said.
“I can help you if you like. I did a report with my brother one time on combat. My mom explained some scenarios.”
“That would be great, how about after school in the library?” she asked.
“Geeze I can’t, how about lunch. We can do it in the outer part of the cafeteria.”
“Thanks that would be prefect.” She smiled at him.
“Not a problem. By the way, you sing really nice. That was a nice song, thank you.” DJ blushed as did she.

Every day at lunch they would sit together and go over notes and ideas for her report. DJ gave her some old notes that he had from the previous year. They sat and talked about everything. Flying the new Cosmo Zero was the main topic with both young cadets. She told him about when she first realized that she wanted to be a pilot and he told her about his days flying with his brother and father. At times Fico would sit with them and watched as they talked about things in common. She was funny and smart when it came to ships and Cosmo zeros. DJ found someone that was more passionate with flying as he was. At times Fico would see her looking at him with admiration while DJ looked on as a friend. She never may a pass at him and he didn’t show interest towards her but only as a friend. Nicole would watch as they sat at the same table and consume each other with star fighters and Cosmo zeros. At one point she watched as Rina gave him a shove after he made fun of her about something she said. She frowned at the girl and looked on with suspicion not liking her closeness with her friend’s boyfriend. Fico finally asked. “What’s the deal with you two?”
“What do you mean, we’re only friends.” DJ told him.
“Look’s a lot more than that.” He warned his friend.
DJ laughed at him for thinking any more than what he was telling him. “Relax Fico, she’s only a friend. I love Marisa and she knows that.”
“Does she really?” he said with warning.
“I told her that I am going steady with someone and it’s very serious. So relax.”
“Well I hope she is listening to you.” Fico told him.
They walked out of their last class together and talking about another assignment that their teacher gave them. “So do you want to work together on this one too?” He asked her.
“I think I can handle it, thanks a lot on our last assignment I really do appreciated it, Deej. But if you want a partner I’m gamed. We can work on it after school. I promised Captain Takahashi that I would help do grades during lunch.”
DJ thought and then said, “how about 1800 tonight at the Rosco’s Café, first round of coffee is on me.”
“You’re on Wildstar.” She smiled wide. “See you tonight.”
“I’m sorry Marisa, but it’s an assignment. I promise I’ll make it up to you tomorrow.” He kissed her cheek and then her lips, “promise.” They said their goodnights and jumped in his car and drove to the café. Rina stood outside waiting as DJ drove up. She waved at him and he smiled. He parked and jumped out to meet her. “Hey, so are you ready for crash course on G-force and warping?” DJ joked.
“0-60 G’s in less than 3 seconds I’m gamed.” She joked back.
“Come on let’s grab a table.” He said as they headed inside. They talked about their assignment and DJ gave her scenarios on war situations. Considering DJ had combat experience he was very helpful in many situations. She was amazed that he fought in battle at a very young age. She asked how it was and he told her his story. How his father was taken from them and beaten and how his sister was kidnapped almost never to be seen again. “I just had to do something. My mother was a wreck and my dad was missing. So I did the only thing I knew what I could, FLY.” He perked up and his eyes lit up. “It’s all I’ve ever wanted.”
“I know what you mean. I’ve always wanted to fly since I could remember.” She looked at him and asked. “Can I ask you something?”
“How have you managed to stay out of the press and a low profile? I mean I’ve heard some stories about your mom and dad. I’ve heard a little about your brother, but you and Mark I’ve haven’t heard a peep about.”
“I think that was my mom and brother’s doing. Not to mention my nanny when we were younger. They were very protective of us. Alex managed to elude people at the academy by going under a different last name only my uncle Pesci and Uncle Eager knew who he was. But when someone tried to expose him by blackmailing him he had to announce who he was. After that he was even more protective of us. I learn to hate people that use me for my name and that is why I never got serious with anyone. Mark now knows what it is to be a Wildstar. He too has come to be weary of who gets close to him. I guess being a Wildstar can be a curse at times.”
“But it has its perks too, right?” she asked.
“Well, it had it perks once upon a time. But those days are over with now. Marisa is now number one in my life.” He grinned making her almost swoon.
“She’s a lucky girl. Or is she?”
“What do you mean by that?”
“Well considering your past reputation it must be hard for her to trust you.”
“She knows I only love her. She doesn’t have to worry about me. There’s no one else for me but Marisa.” He told her. She gazed at him and wondered if he was really in love.
“Maybe we should be going, it’s getting late.” She broke her stare at him and began to collect her books.
“Do you have a ride home?” DJ asked.
“Um, no, I walked here from school.” She said. “I was looking for an after school job.”
“I see, a working woman. That’s great but I thought that you,” he began.
“Everyone thinks that all of the students at the academy are all well off. But we peasants sometime get in on a scholarship. So we sometimes have to get a job to make end meat with books and clothes.” She said making fun of him.
“Geese I didn’t know. If there is anything I can do.”
“Oh relax Wildstar, my parents aren’t that poor. I just don’t have an expense account like most of you guys. I happen to like clothes and shoes so I thought it would be a good idea to get a job and take the burden off my mom and dad.”
DJ smiled with admiration of the girl standing in front of him. It wasn’t often that he ran into a girl from the academy that worked and make her own way. He was impressed by her. “Anyway let me take you home.”
“I’ll be alright. I can take the bus home.” She told him.
“Nonsenses, I wouldn’t feel right if you were out here at night waiting for the bus. Come on, I’m taking you home and I won’t take no for an answer. Plus my parents would kill me if I didn’t.” he took hold of her books and they walked towards his car. He helped her in and jumped into driver’s seat and took off. She gave him directions to her house and they talked about their assignment. “So your parents aren’t in the force.”
“No, they are plain Jane and Joe. They were hoping that I’d go to college but when the opportunity came for the scholarship I had to jump on it and they were thrilled. I have to maintain an A or they will take it away. And I really want to fly.” She said dreaming out into the dark night as he drove her home. He pulled up to a small house that sat on a small alcove of a lake. It was simple house that looked more like a large bungalow. She smiled at him and opened the door and grabbed hold of her books. DJ ran out of the car and over to help her out. “Thank you.” She said and they walked to the door. “You know I am a big girl I can walk myself to my door.” She said.
“My parents always taught me to make sure a young lady gets home safe. So here you are.”
“Thank you DJ. I’ll see you tomorrow at school.”
He smiled and she quickly gave him a peck on the cheek that made him blush. “See you tomorrow, Rina. Goodnight.” She ran into the house and straight to her room. Quickly she picked up the phone and dialed the number.
“Yeah,” she heard Marina say into the phone.
“I just got back with him.”
“Oh do tell,” she purred into the phone. Rina talked on about their night as Marina listen on the other side. She gushed about how he was so close to her that her heart almost jumped out of her chest. Rina went on to tell her about him walking her to the door and she kissed him on the cheek. “Is that all!” Marina snapped.
“Relax Marine, this is just the beginning. I can’t rush something like this. First we become friends and then it turns to something more. We have a lot in common. What does she have?” Rina told her.
“Good idea, Ri, Ri. Well keep me inform to what is going on. I can’t wait to see him falling for you.”
At school they were close friends. Fico watched as his grew closer to the pretty girl. He laughed with her and ate lunch with her. DJ assured Fico that they were just friends working on a project together, nothing more. Fico worried about their friendship. Was she trying to be more than a friend? Fico watched as she would give him gentle shoves when he joked with her. She laughed at most of his jokes and confronted him when it was a bad joke. Rina made sure that she kept her distance. She wouldn’t push herself on him and understood when he had to see his girlfriend. She encouraged his romance with Marisa which made Fico more suspicion of her. There had to be more than what she was doing.
“I have to go. I promise Marisa I’d spend time with her.” DJ said.
“Of course, I can get home from here.” She said.
DJ rolled his eyes and said. “Come on I’ll take you home.”
“No, no I’ll be alright. Don’t keep her waiting.” She insisted.
“You should know me better than that by now. Come on it’s not a problem.” He led her to his car and race to take her home. Pulling up to the house she turned to him. “Thanks again Deej, I guess I’ll see you Monday.” She said lean in to kiss him on the cheek. He blushed as her lips touched his face and she smiled. “Do I make you feel uncomfortable?”
He turned away and said, “No, not at all.” He could feel her breath on his neck and lean closer to his door.
She reached for his face and turned it towards hers. “You’re blushing! I am making you feel uncomfortable.”
“No I’m not! I mean you’re not making me uncomfortable. We’re friends, nothing more.” He said quickly.
“Hmm,” she lean in closer and brought his face towards her. Slowly she lean in and her lips finally touched his. His lips felt good on hers and he sat there in shock to feel her lips on him. She pulled away and said. “Sorry, it just,” she began.
“Rina, I don’t think that we should, well you know. My heart is with Marisa.” He told her.
“I know, and I am so sorry. I guess I got caught up in the moment. Are you going to hate me? I do value your friendship and I don’t want to lose that.”
Feeling awkward DJ pulled on his shirt like his father would when he was nervous. “It’s alright Rina. Let’s just forget about this. We are still friends. I should go, Marisa is probably wondering where I’m at. See you Monday.” He said trying to rush her out of his car.
She smiled at him and nodded her head. “Sure, I’ll see you Monday.”
He raced to her house and felt the sweat on his face. His mind kept going back to her kiss. Though he didn’t kiss her back he couldn’t get her out of his head. Marisa must never know about this. She would hate me and probably kill her. It’s best to make sure this stays on a plutonic level. He made a mental note to really let Rina know that he is not interested in her at all but only to be her friend. She was fun and smart. Her passion to fly is the only thing that bounded them. Marisa and he had more of a history and Marisa knew him more then he knew himself. He had to make sure to let her down easy and hope that she didn’t over react. He jumped out of the car and ran up to her door. She swung open her door giving him a mad look. “What took you?” she snapped.
“I’m sorry Marisa, I dropped Rina at her house.”
She huffed at him and folded her arms under her breast. “How much longer do you two have to work together on this assignment? And who is this Rina anyway?”
“Not much longer I promise and she’s just a class mate that’s all.” He slipped his arm around her waist and hugged her tight. “Let’s not talk about her I want to spend our time talking about us.” He snuggle his nose on her neck and she giggled.
“Stop it! Gosh I hate when you do that!” she screamed in laughter. “I just hate that I love you so much and I can never be mad at you.”
“Well that’s good. Then I know I will always be in your good graces.” He leaned in and kissed her with passion. “Come on, let’s get out of here.” He took her by the hand and they jumped into his car.
“You know I hate when you make me laugh. You know I am still mad at you.” She tried to tell him with a straight face.
“Well I am sorry. I promise I will make it up to you.” He grinned.
“You better.” She said than snuggled on his shoulder while he drove.
